What is an Assignment?
An Assignment is a defined task that someone needs to complete. It gives the task a clear owner and keeps it visible until the work is done.
Assignments can be created during a Service Visit or Delivery, or directly from the Back Office. You can also assign an Assignment to yourself.
Assignments are synchronized between the Back Office and mobile app, so the field and office teams can work with the same information.
When should I create an Assignment?
Use an Assignment when you know what needs to be done and the important part is making sure someone actually does it.
One-off Assignments are used for a specific action that does not need to repeat automatically:
Prepare an upsell quote requested by a customer.
Contact a building manager about access for an upcoming installation.
Pick up a specific fertilizer needed for one job.
Investigate a leaking connection and arrange the required repair.
Recurring Assignments are used when the same type of task needs to happen repeatedly:
Perform a pest-prevention round every quarter.
Review the Budgets every month.
Carry out a regular inventory review.
The difference is simple: a one-off Assignment is for one specific action, while a "recurring" Assignment generates future Assignments according to a chosen schedule.
A general rule
Think of an Assignment as the record of an action someone needs to complete.
If you need to answer “What specific task needs to be done, and who should do it?” create an Assignment.
If you need to record “What problem needs attention?” create an Issue.
Practical tips
Use "recurring" Assignments for repeatable work, such as quarterly pest prevention or regular site reviews.
Remember that Back Office and mobile app changes are synchronized.
Use the Service Site card's Assignments tab when you need the full task picture for one location.
