One Big Green (OBG) records time for each team member throughout the workday. Recorded activities are brought together in a timesheet, where the entries can be reviewed individually and grouped into three time categories: Service Time, Commute Time, and Other Time.
From recorded activity to timesheet
A timesheet is built from the start and finish times recorded for a person’s workday and activities. Entries can come from scheduled work, travel, and activities logged by the team member. Each entry retains its own activity type and timestamps, so the records can be checked when something looks incomplete or incorrect.
The three time categories
Time category | What it represents | Common source entries |
Service Time | Time spent performing a scheduled Service Visit. | Recurring or one-off Service Visits. |
Commute Time | Travel time associated with the workday. | The first commute, travel between Service Sites, and the last commute. |
Other Time | Recorded work that is not counted as Service Time. | Deliveries, quality inspections, and unplanned activities such as preparation or warehouse work. |
The category helps summarize what kind of time was recorded. It is not the same as the customer or Service Site to which time may be attributed. For details about how time is assigned for job costing, see the related article on time in job costing.
How daily timesheets are built
OBG uses recorded start and finish timestamps to compile each person's daily timesheet. The recorded activity determines the category shown in the table above.
Important note: The person's timesheets for the day are compiled and become available in the Back Office after the person finishes their working day.
Reviewing time records
The Admin team can review and edit individual records in the Back Office under Timesheets. Filters help narrow the list by person, activity, date range, and Service Site where available.
Team members can also view their own timesheet in the mobile app.
If a record needs correcting, administrators can edit an existing entry or add a missing record. Edited entries retain a change history. Entries with potential issues, such as overlapping times or a day that was automatically closed at midnight, are highlighted so they can be checked.
Individual records and summaries
Time is recorded per person, so each team member’s entries remain individually reviewable. OBG can also summarize time by category for reporting and budget review. These summaries help show how much time was recorded for different kinds of work without replacing the underlying individual entries.
Practical tips
Review timesheets regularly so missing, overlapping, or incorrect entries can be corrected while the workday is still easy to verify.
Use filters to focus on one person, activity, date range, or Service Site instead of reviewing the entire list.
